RE: I must be made of sugar

I've heard that putting Listerine in a spray bottle and spraying a mist of it around will keep them away.

RE: Sometimes.......the person hardest to forgive.......

A true philosophical viewpoint, however: Give me coffee in the morning and I can forgive almost anybody almost anything almost anytime. :C

RE: for the bottled water drinkers...

In case you are watching your weight and want to reduce your caloric intake while sipping your bottled water, here is a new product: http://www.oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a223_p3.jpg It doesn't say how many fewer calories than regular water, but it must be less... fewer than zero? 0-?=-? :H

RE: loking for a new laptop

For one thing, Microsoft announced that there will be no more product fixes for XP and anything prior to XP. They're forcing everyone to move to Vista, regardless of preferences. I hope your XP's hang tough. Hope Microsoft's Corporate offices lock up due to some unforseen flaw in Vista...heh heh...serve them right for dumping it on us knowing there's problems to begin with--poetic justice. :B

RE: Possible solution to smoking cigarettes

Leenite, that's a VERY positive motivation! I used to tease my mother-in-law with, "Despite the fact that we're in Los Angeles County, if you give up smoking the fresh air will NOT kill you." She gave up smoking on my birthday (July 28) in 1998, and passed away of pancreatic cancer which had metastasized to all of her soft organs, 2 days after it in 2004--she was 71.

RE: I am back.... sort of

Good luck on your recovery and treatment. My grandmother had one of hers removed...21 years ago, now...and--either the doctor wasn't good at reconstruction or they took too much tissue for an effective rebuild--but after I got together with my parnter, we took our puppy to visit "Grammy"... He ended up running around the house, and came out of her bedroom playing with something he got off the lower shelf of her nightstand...it was one of her prosthetic boobs! Bit a hole in it right through the ziploc baggie! :B :P

RE: Coke plus?

coke came out with a new soda a few months ago by the name of coke plus, it was good but now have not seen it for awhile in the stores. anyone know if they still make it or if it has been discontinued? Try shopping in a different store...I know that Von's/Safeway still carries both Cherry Coke and Coke+ (the plus is Vitamins, folks). I prefer Pepsi, then Coke, Cherry Coke, then Coke Zero.

RE: Pine Beetle in the Rocky Mountain area

As bugs tend to be survivors, I'm fairly sure this cycle of trees dying and regrowing has happened several times before.

RE: $#%@ Windows!

Let's be brutally honest, MSs operational policy has two questions: 1. Does our new "software version/fix/patch/upgrade/update/security update" operate under our current operating system? Answer: A. Yes-goto 2. B. No-rework. 2. Does our new "software version/fix/patch/upgrade/update/security update" cause any operational issues for third party products when running under our current operating system? Answer: A. Yes-good, produce, package and ship. B. No-rework. :B :P

RE: Important News Article: RVs Cheapest Type of Vacation!

Being the accountant number cruncher I am, this is the only way for us to travel. Being the travel agents we are, we decided to use our RV and see our own country more.

RE: All around experience

Well...let's see...California is the home of several things.... You might try camping somewhere in San Bernardino County out near Redlands, Yucaipa or Calimesa, even Banning or Beaumont out on I-10...if you do it during Apple Harvest, there's a great festival up in Oak Glen, up in the mountains east of Yucaipa. There may even be a campground in the area of Yucaipa or Oak Glen, I'll check soon... Then, up north around San Jose, there's Gilroy, home of the world's Garlic Festival, and in San Jose there's The Winchester House (yes, the shotgun heiress-widow)...it's quite an attraction and tours are daily, there's also Six Flags Great America. Down south in Orange County (LA County's southeast neighbor) there's a street fair in the Old Town Plaza on Labor Day weekend, with several local groups setting up food booths...it's sort of an all-day eat-fest around the world....parking is "problematic" and you buy the food items, but admission to the area is free. There are several campgrounds nearby, 3 or 4 in Anaheim, you can take in the Disneyland Resort for 3 or 4 days (if you plan, you can cover both parks in 2 days), or 2 or 3 in or near Huntington Beach, you can camp near the beach (electric and water, dump is nearby) at Bolsa Chica State Beach CG, at Huntington State Beach CG just 1-2 miles south, or Doheny Beach State Park Campground (FHU) in Southern Orange County. Depending on when you do this, the fair may be in town, Orange County Fair is in Costa Mesa usually early July to Mid-August, LA County is in Pomona but I don't rember their dates....probably because last year they had temps in the 3-digit range.

RE: California I 5

My wife and I are thinking of heading to Burnt Ranch (on 299, west of redding) to see the in-laws, sounds like the drive is going to be worst than I thought. Sounds like the name was probably apt.... :R

RE: Laughlin to Bakersfield

The portions in the desert are about what you expect with the heat, but you take the Bakersfield turn-off in Barstow and end up going through Tehachapi, it's a pretty drive, and you go past the airplane boneyard...but you might want to fill in Barstow first, I don't know how the fueling stations are laid out on that route.

RE: Advice Needed: What is fair in this situation?

Agreed...as for using the electricity and water, probably $5 for 30-days of 'fridge' cooldown, and probably $2 for 50 g. of water...with change coming back... As far as the cherry tree......sometimes kids can break branches...but you should be able to trim the hedge.

RE: Advice Needed: What is fair in this situation?

Let's face it, if you've used as you say, 50 gallons of water to wash the trailer, you could give her a $2 bill and get change. 30 days of a TT plugged in just to cool the fridge...maybe $5? If she's that mercenary, stick it to her forehead with Krazyglue.

RE: Finding the back of the toad

I too use the backup camera to view the back end of the toad...can see the hitch at the bottom of the monitor, and the roof rack on the van at the top of the screen--back of van is +/- 28'.

RE: Coffee pots!

Went from a suggestion box on undercabinet coffeemakers to a coffee critique...hmmm... I've got a Braun Tassimo, makes one at a time--but I'm the major coffee drinker in the rig, and it also makes Hot Chocolate, Chai Tea Latte, Cafe Latte, Cappucinos, Espresso, and several flavored and different roast strength coffees. :B Check it out at Braun's USA Website for the Tassimo. We got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and the coffee's there and at Target, you can also order the coffees direct on the website. Till we found this, I'd buy Starbucks beans, only the Sumatra, and yes--in the last few years all their coffees brewed have tasted like burnt roasting at the plant--something's wrong up there.

RE: two questions

my dash air dont work anymore and its not worth fixing so i run the generator and roof AC and i have used the levelers to change tires and work under the rv but use a jack also just in case. I am not inclined to work under the RV we have, but would not use the levelers to raise the rig without having a way to block the frame securely. There was a post somewhere on one of the threads about a month or so ago, just before we left for Tunica, MS, about one of the users who was checking something under his rig before leaving for a trip, and the jacks didn't hold, and the rig "fell" on him. As one of the users here stated--"With two different size tires, I'll just call CoachNet and let them deal with it." On the air issue, with a gas engine, your A/C is powered by the engine, and creates a real power/performance drain on the engine, as well as dumping a lot of heat into the engine compartment. Running the genny and coach A/Cs cools more effectively as they are rated at a higher capacity. With our DP, we use the genny and coach A/C, at a nice comfortable 71F...if it gets too hot up front I can turn on either the A/C or the defroster fans to move air around (bringing cooler air up front).
